Northern Thailand with Jinny
![]() We had an absolutely wonderful time touring Chang Mai and Chang Rai in Northern Thailand with Jinny as our guide. Jinny was not only incredibly kind and thoughtful but also went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The Best Places to Visit in Turkey in June
June is a great time of the year to visit Turkey for a beach holiday, with temperatures high but not too high, and right before the European and American school summer holidays, you'll be seeing fewer families traveling around Turkey's beach destinations in June when compared to July and August.
Of course, you shouldn't miss a visit to Istanbul while you are in Turkey, its largest and most interesting city with some of Turkey's top sights to see.
Read on for more information about Turkey's must-see spots:
1. Istanbul — Sightseeing and Sample Turkish Cuisine
Istanbul is a great place to kick off your Turkey trip, with most international flights landing in one of Istanbul's two airports. And this is for a good reason, because Istanbul is a great place to go sightseeing in, and it is Turkey's number one tourism destination.
You would have to visit the Hagia Sophia, the incredible Blue Mosque, and to sample some of the great Turkish restaurants of Istanbul. Here are some of our most popular Turkey itineraries:
- Istanbul Old City Walking Tour — Full-day Guided Immersion of the Old Days.
- Istanbul Land & Sea Combo with Food Tasting — 2-Day Istanbul Sightseeing and Food Tasting Tour.

2. Hit Up Antalya's Beaches to Relax
June is a great time of year to go beach-hopping, and Antalya is just the place to do this. From Seven Beach to Konyaalti Plajlari and Lara Beach, there are just so many places to pop down a towel, go for a swim, and soak up those sun rays that you will have missed throughout the winter months.
We have listed some of The 10 Best Beaches in Turkey for more information and for other beach options in Turkey.
If you are hoping to visit Turkey for your honeymoon, why not check out this honeymoon itinerary that includes Antalya, which would be perfect for a trip in June: Romantic Turkish Honeymoon — 10-Day Private Honeymoon Tour: Istanbul–Fethiye–Antalya–Cappadocia.
3. Scuba Dive around a Wreck at Gallipoli
While diving is possible all-year round, May through November is the best time of year to get your wetsuits out. One of the coolest places to go diving in Turkey is at Gallipoli, where you will be able to visit the wrecks of both British and French ships that were sunk during the Battle of Gallipoli back in 1915.
This is a once in a lifetime experience that you can only experience in the Dardanelles Strait not too far from Istanbul. While you're there, there are lots of other snorkeling spots in the nearby Aegean Sea that come highly recommended.
Global Highlights can help you plan a trip to Gallipoli as well as to any other diving spots you want to visit during your time in Turkey. Contact us for a stress-free travel experience with private transport and help booking everything you might need.
4. Visit the Ancient Temple of Artemis at Ephesus near Izmir
For those with an interest in ancient history, Izmir is a must. From there, it's easy to head on over to Ephesus, where the Temple of Artemis is listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
While June might be on the warmer side to visit, the temperatures still are lower in the morning and evenings, so we recommend planning your sightseeing around those times and planning your time so that you're indoors at the middle of the day.

Turkey Festivals in June: Eid al-Adha
Depending on the Muslim calendar, Eid al-Adha ('Feast of Sacrifice') usually falls in June (or July). In 2025 it is between June 6 and June 9(with June 6 to June 9 being public holidays). This holiday sees people taking trips to visit family, and going to attend the mosque.
If you are hoping to visit one of the big mosques on this day, please note it might be busier than usual, and for the smaller mosques it is advised to call ahead to check to see whether they are open for visitors or whether they are only open for those praying.
Smaller museums and tourist sites might also have different closing hours on these public holidays, so we recommend calling ahead or asking your hotel to double check opening times to avoid disappointment.
High Season: More Crowding and More Expensive
June falls in Turkey's high season, and you'll notice that there are more crowds in the country, especially alongside the beach destinations. As a result, prices for internal travel and accommodation are also higher during this time of the year.
If you are planning to visit Turkey's beaches, however, we do recommend going in June if possible, because July and August gets even busier with international school holidays and families traveling with their kids.
What to Wear in June
Since June is a warm month in Turkey, we recommend bringing mostly clothing made of natural fabrics and in lighter colors. Cotton trousers, long skirts, and linen shirts are a good idea to keep cool in the warmer weather, as well as maxi dresses.
Because a large part of Turkey is Muslim, we do recommend for women to cover knees and shoulders with an exception of the beaches and beach resorts, where there are fewer expectations surrounding exposed skin. If you are planning on visiting a mosque or a church, men and women should both cover knees and shoulders, and women do need to wear a headscarf.
For the adventurous visitors we recommend wearing sturdy footwear so that you can go about exploring while staying comfortable, and in June you will need plenty of sunscreen and a hat as well as sunglasses if you're sensitive to the light.
