Your private guide and your driver will meet you when you arrive, escorting you to your hotel and facilitating your check-in. For what remains of your day you are free to explore and to acclimatize to some of the wonders Ho Chi Minh City has in store for you.

After breakfast on your first day, it's time to head out into Ho Chi Minh City.
This, your first real view of the metropolis, will reveal to you the modern history and the turmoil of the city and Vietnam itself. Visiting such sites as the Saigon Reunification Palace, the Central Post Office, and Notre Dame Cathedral you will be struck by the resilience of the local people in their travails, their losses, and their victories of war. The Museum of War Remnants is particularly revealing of all the Vietnamese suffered in difficult years long hidden from the outside world.
Then it's time to hop a cyclo to explore the city in all its variety and color, from the excitement of busy streets alive with modernity to peaceful back alleys and local nooks which seem a world away from noise and chaos. The contrast will help you experience the variety of life in modern-day Vietnam.
Then dive beneath the city itself and visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. It is impossible not to be both impressed and moved by the dauntless spirit and endurance of the soldiers and civilians who fought for their land when viewing the tunnels, a testament to the suffering of the Vietnamese people in those terrible days of war.

Fortified by a sumptuous breakfast in your hotel, a 2-hour drive takes you to Vinh Long, located in the Mekong Delta. There you will explore the Vinh Long bazaar, learning to bargain like a local in the bustle of daily trade. Feast on local delicacies from fish and fresh fruit and veg to more exotic fare such as vole.
From there, a leisurely boat journey will take you to An Binh Island and lunch in a traditional family restaurant, your appetite stirred by the tranquil atmosphere of the emerald waters you have traveled while watching the lives of the locals along the way.
Then it's off to Can Tho and your hotel for a peaceful night's sleep.

Start your day in exhilarating style with a powerboat ride and you're off to explore the Cai Rang Floating Market. This market is part of the daily life of the locals and is vibrant with people loudly hawking their wares to a bustling crowd selecting from their competing colorfully exotic fruit and veg. All manner of tricks will be used to get your attention by the sellers, including waving samples around on sticks to increase the vendors' reach out into the crowd.
After the market, a chance to wind down in Can Tho, learning more about the culture and people of the Mekong Delta with a visit to the Can Tho Museum. You will be surprised by the diversity offered in the exhibits given the range of ethnic minorities inhabiting the area.
Not to be missed before returning to the bustle of Ho Chi Minh city is the architectural delight of the Binh Thuy Ancient House. This unique masterpiece combines both eastern and western influences in a house of prayer built for the clan of the Duong people and their clan.
