In June, southern Sweden enjoys mild or warm maximum temperatures at the low elevations and extra-long doses of bright sunshine and daylight that will lift your emotions. In the north, it is always day, mild or cool, and sometimes it might be cold. You can enjoy the outdoors and tour cities.

1. Stockholm — Experience the Urban Highlights, Hike, and Take Sightseeing Cruises
Stockholm is the capital and the biggest city. You would not expect much beautiful nature in the high-tech capital, but Stockholm sits on an archipelago of 3,000 small islands with numerous beaches and lagoons for swimming, hiking, kayaking, boating, and fishing. Tyresta National Park is nearby.
Tyresta has 55 km (34 miles) of hiking trails to enjoy, and the weather is pleasant for outdoor excursions. On average, Stockholm has a daily high of 21°C (70°F), a low of 12°C (54°F), and 9 hours of cheery sunshine. Rainfall is low.
Stockholm's restaurants have tables on patios and rooftops so that you can drink in some of the sunshine and get a tan. You could take boat cruises to sightsee the urban landscape and islands of Stockholm. Touring prices are high, and flight prices peak in June.
2. Uppsala — Tour the City and See the Nature Reserve
For a relaxed vacation, you could go to Uppsala in June. The city is only about 70 kilometers (43 miles) north of Stockholm. In June, the weather is mild and sunny with a daily average of almost 10 hours of sunshine, highs of 20°C (68°F), and lows of 9°C (48°F).
Uppsala has a lot of places of historical and scenic interest. To walk, jog, or bike, you could go to Hågadalen-Nåstens Nature Reserve on the western side of the city. There are interesting ancient sites in the scenic valley such as the Royal Mound, stone circles, and an old fort.
In the university campus, you could visit the Gustavianum Museum that is inside the university's oldest building. You could also visit the castle or simply walk along the canals and old streets.
3. Jämtland — Pristine Summer Nature, Waterfalls, Lakes, Hiking Trails
The central eastern region of Jämtland is where some of the best hiking is in Sweden in June because it is relatively warmer than the arctic circle. Jämtland is at latitude 63° and has crystal-clear lakes. There is abundant wildlife. It is a native home of Sami people.
There are numerous good hiking trails through rugged and amazing mountain scenery. The Jämtland Hiking Triangle is a beautiful hiking trail with accommodations and diners along the way. In Duved, a ski resort town there, the average high is 15°C (59°F). The low is 6°C (43°F).
The town of Östersund is known for great natural organic cuisine. You could dine on wild game or Sami reindeer. In June, there is an average of 20½ hours of daylight. It never gets dark in June if the skies are clear because of the indigo/violet twilight.
4. Kiruna — Enjoy Lapland Highlights and Ski
Another place to go for high-mountain rugged hiking and scenery and Sami culture and cuisine is the area around Kiruna, Riksgränsen, and Abisko. You will have daylight all month in June. Kiruna is the Swedish town that is furthest north.
The area is also famed for beautiful nature and exotic arctic scenery. You can go on Lapland excursions to sightsee, see reindeer herds, and dine on native reindeer dishes. There are 8 hours of sunshine on average. The average high is 15°C (59°F). The nightly lows are 6°C (43°F).
A famed hiking path called Kungsleden starts in Abisko and goes to the tallest mountain in Sweden, and comfortable mountain cabins along the route are open after June 14. You could still ski at Riksgränsen Ski Resort in June. The resort reopens for the Midsummer holidays.

What to Wear in June
June temperatures are usually comfortable in the south of Sweden at low elevations when you are wearing light clothing such as trousers during the day, but it might get chilly at night. The bright sunshine might make you feel warm or hot. Sunburn could be a problem.

Compared to other countries, there is low rainfall generally. Gothenburg is one of the rainiest cities, and it gets a low total rainfall in June. Take a waterproof coat or raingear when you travel in Sweden. You could be the most comfortable by dressing in layers.
